June 2022 – Talitha Cumi

And He took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise… For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Mark 5:41; Hebrews 4:12)

I welcome you to the sixth month of the year 2022 themed “The Siege is Over.” God spoke to us about “Glory” in March, “The 4 Dimensions of the Holy Spirit” in April, and “Dominion–Winning Secrets” in May. One can see the connection thread between these messages, starting with speaking extensively on the Holy Spirit, then on the God of dominion, and now, Jesus’ spoken word – Talitha-Cumi. You will read, study, memorize, meditate on the Word this month, in Jesus’ Name. I say Talitha-Cumi to your body, soul and spirit this month on the path of greatness and fulfillment, in Jesus’ Name.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1,14). He spoke into nothing, and nothing became everything (Genesis 1:1-3; Psalms 33:9)! “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Therefore, Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

The power of the Word of God is eternal (Psalm 119:89; Mark 13:31). The functions of the Word of God in our lives is multipurpose and multi-dimensional because man cannot be sustained only on the meeting of his physical needs, rather one’s life must be fueled by the power of the Holy Spirit available through the Word of God (Deuteronomy 8:3). Amongst other things, the Word of God heals and delivers (Psalm 107:20), it lights the path for us to walk in life (Psalm 119:105), and it helps us to stay away from sin (Psalm 119:11). It is also God’s tool in revealing to us His discernment of the thoughts and intents of our hearts so He can lead us aright (Hebrews 4:12). It is, therefore, not surprising that the Word was given prominence in the New Testament (Acts 6:7; Mark 16:20; Acts 10:44).

Similarly, as believers in Christ Jesus with an apostolic mandate to preach the Word to a dying world, it is necessary for us to be full of prayer. Acts 6:4 says, “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.2 Thessalonians 3:1 says, “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the LORD may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you.” The biggest obstacle to the efficacy of the Word of God in the life of a person is unbelief! Hebrews 4:2 says, “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” Unbelief is rooted out, and faith established, only by the continual persistence in hearing the Word of God so much that our lives are suffused by it (Romans 10:17)!

We know how powerful the Name of Jesus is, and the Bible says that the Word is even above that – because the Word is the very person of Christ!

  • Psalm 138:2  I will worship toward Thy holy temple and praise Thy Name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy truth: for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy Name.
  • John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  • John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
  • Revelation 4:8  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Since Jesus is the Word, and He “was, and is, and is to come,” then the WORD OF GOD “was, and is, and is to come.” The very same Scriptures that brought us into the church, the very same verses that have kept us through trials over many years, STILL WORK!

THE WORD OF GOD IS ESSENTIALLY A WEAPON FOR FIGHTING LIFE’S BATTLE

And I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a Name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His Name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God” (Revelations 19:11-15).

The Word of God is sitting upon a white horse, as described in this portion of Scripture.

  • A horse is a swift animal used for running – the Word of God moves with divine speed.
    • The horse is white – the Word of God is pure and operates with pure vessels and in a pure environment.
    • Sin and iniquities are obstacles to the operations and ministration of the word of God. If you are living in unrighteousness, the word of God cannot operate through you. The Word will not work for you.
    • The Word of God is clothed with vesture dipped in blood. The Word of God works with the Blood of Jesus. They are twin weapons for fighting.
    • Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony (refers to the Word of God that is declared by their mouth); and they loved not their lives unto the death.” (emphasis mine)

JOSEPH’S EXAMPLE

He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant. Whose feet they hurt with fetters; he was laid in iron. Until the time that His Word came; the word of the LORD tried him. The King sent and loosed him; even the ruler of all his substance to bind his princes at his pleasures; and teach his senators wisdom” (Psalm 105:17-22).

Joseph’s battles in life were tough and turbulent. He was a victim of ingrained fundamental battles (Ephesians 6:12). He would have been Jacob’s firstborn, had Jacob married Rachael according to his original plan. However, this fundamental battle negatively rearranged Joseph into being the eleventh son. The battle in place manipulatively brought Leah in into Jacob’s life resulting in Reuben taking Joseph’s place as firstborn. The battle went further to hinder Rachael from early childbearing. She was a victim of protracted delay in childbearing. The battle increased to make Joseph suffer the loss of his mother in early childhood. The battle was further complicated as he became a victim of the bitter and destructive hatred and envy of others.

However, Joseph resolved his life’s battle with words. He understood and employed the winning strategy of words in winning spiritual warfare. “Until the time that his word came; the word of the LORD tried him” (Psalm 105:18). Ultimately, he recovered his firstborn birthright back (1 Chronicles 5:1-2). Even when the situation was unpleasant, Joseph kept declaring what God’s word has said about him. Eventually the word prevailed (Acts 19:20; Deuteronomy 28:13).

THE CENTURION’S EXAMPLE

Luke 7:6-7 says, “Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “LORD, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.

This text provides us with a template on getting a word from God. First, the centurion knew the power of the spoken word himself, so he approached Jesus in faith. Secondly, he relied on the word with so much faith that Jesus Christ said He had never seen such in Israel before.

PETER’S EXAMPLE:

Peter toiled all night and caught nothing. Luke 5:4-5 says, “Now when He had left speaking, He said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto Him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless, at Thy word I will let down the net.

There are two dimensions to the spoken Word of God. There is the “Logos” which is the established word of God that speaks to the generality of our lives. Then, there is the “Rhema” which is the prophetic word spoken to one person in the midst of a multitude.

  • The established word of God speaks to the generality of our lives. The prophetic word speaks into our moments. To Peter, launch into the deep for  a draught. He obeyed and caught so many fish that his boat began to sink.
  • The established word of God builds us up (Acts 20:32). It allows us to grow up. The prophetic word enables us to get what belongs to us. In Luke 5:5, Peter caught a boat-sinking load of fish at the Word of the LORD.
  • The light of the Word is the fire of faith. When light comes from the Word, it fires your faith to receive your miracle.

MANAGEMENT & UTILIZATION OF WORDS

Your skill in effective management and utilization of words is the key determinant of whether your battles will turn to solutions or remain a problem. There are 5 levels or types of words that determine the direction of one’s battles in life:

  1. Words of the Enemy: Exodus 15:9 – The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.”  The words of the enemy create, strengthen, promote, service and elongate battles. The words of the enemy or battle create fear, discouragement, intimidation, hopelessness, sorrow and sadness. Every voice of the enemy and of battle over your life is silenced, in Jesus’ mighty Name.
  1. An Inner or Silent Word: Matthew 9:21 – “For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” Your thought pattern or process also directs the direction of your battle in life. “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). What you think is what you believe.  What you believe is what is performed for you (Luke 1:45). No matter how hard you pray in life, if what you are saying supports the battle against your prayers, you can’t win your life’s battles. Your thoughts eventually determine your destiny.
  2. Forceful or Violent Words: Matthew 11:12 – And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.” This is the voice or language of spiritual warfare. Spiritual warfare is not a wrestling contest with opposition forces; it is a contest of the exercise of authority. And in this contest, the rule of the game is command instructions (Job 38:12-13). Thus, to win your life’s battles, you must be able to command authoritatively, affirmatively, violently, forcefully to enforce the obedience and compliance of the opposing forces (Mark 11:14). The forces of opposition need to hear you before they obey and submit to you.
  3. Your Confessions or Declarations: Numbers 14:28 – “Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:” What comes out of your mouth consciously or unconsciously will determine the direction and destination of your battle (1 Samuel 17:45-47; Mark 11:23).
  4. God’s Word: God’s word is Sovereign; it is the ultimate of all words. Find out what God said in the pages of Scripture; those are the right words, and they are very forceful. Job 6:25 – How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?” God’s word is in opposition to what the enemy is, or battles are, saying. Thus, when your thoughts and spoken words tally with what God said, you will undoubtedly win and triumph over the battles of your life.

Conclusion: God acts on His word; He will not act until He has first spoken (Genesis 21:1-2). The moment God’s word has been released via your tongue, God Himself will hasten it for performance or execution (Jeremiah 1:12). Your responsibility this month is to research the Word of God to see what God has said about your situation and release the trigger of our tongue for the manifestation. This ensures dominion, triumph and conquest in our life’s battles. This is our season of the Word working wonders!
